Year-Round Texture for the Shade Garden
Japanese Tassel Fern is a handsome evergreen fern with glossy, deep green fronds that bring beautiful texture to shady areas throughout the year. Its name comes from its emerging fronds, which briefly bend backward like tassels before unfurling and standing upright.
Plant it in part shade to full shade in rich, moist, well-drained soil. Its tidy, clumping habit makes it an excellent choice for woodland gardens, shady borders, foundation plantings, or mass plantings beneath trees.
Good to Know: Although it appreciates consistent moisture, Japanese Tassel Fern can tolerate short dry periods once established. Avoid areas with standing water, as poorly drained soil can lead to crown rot.
