Big Blooms, Beautiful Fragrance & Plenty of Personality
‘Incense’ Passionflower is a vigorous vine known for its spectacular 4 to 5-inch purple flowers with intricately ruffled filaments and a sweet fragrance. A cross between our native maypop and the tropical Passiflora cincinnata, it combines an exotic appearance with impressive heat tolerance and vigor.
Give it full sun to part shade, well-drained soil, and a sturdy structure to climb. Its fast-growing vines are perfect for covering a trellis, arbor, fence, or other support, and flowering can continue from summer until frost.
Good to Know: ‘Incense’ can spread enthusiastically through underground shoots, so plant it where it has room to roam or grow it in a container when you want to keep it more contained. In colder winters, the vine may die back to the ground before returning from its roots in spring.
