A Compact Grass with Plenty of Movement

‘Hameln’ Fountain Grass brings soft texture and graceful movement to the garden without taking up as much room as larger fountain grasses. Fine green foliage forms a neat, arching mound, topped by fuzzy, bottlebrush-like flower plumes that emerge in summer and continue adding interest into fall and winter.

Plant it in full sun for the best flowering, although it will tolerate some partial shade. ‘Hameln’ prefers moist, well-drained soil and works especially well along borders, in mass plantings, or as a compact accent among flowering perennials.

Good to Know: ‘Hameln’ is a dwarf selection that blooms about two weeks earlier than typical fountain grass. NC State also identifies ‘Hameln’ as a sterile cultivar, an important distinction because the fountain grass species can spread by seed.
