The deeply textured green leaves give it a sculptural quality that stands out in shady borders, containers, and woodland gardens.

In fall, bright yellow, daisy-like flowers rise above the foliage for an unexpected pop of color. Farfugium performs best in part shade to shade with rich, consistently moist soil, and its foliage should be protected from too much direct sun in our warm climate.

Good to Know: ‘Shishi Botan’ is more compact than many other Farfugium varieties, making it especially useful for containers and smaller shady spaces. The species is native to eastern Asia, not South Carolina.
