Hello Horticultural Lovers!
Are you an avid gardener, plant enthusiast, or ardent environmentalist looking for ways to put your interests and talents to good use?
Perhaps you are looking for opportunities to meet like-minded people and use your business skills and knowledge to help serve the community where you live.
Why not do both?
The Charleston Horticultural Society (the HORT) is currently accepting
applications/nominations to fill three (3) vacancies on our Board of Directors.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and make a difference as the HORT continues to expand its mission and commitment to better serve the Lowcountry.
The HORT Board is a diverse group of individuals whose horticultural expertise and passion, business acumen, community contacts, and historical knowledge of the Charleston area and its many resources are of vital importance to the overall success of the Organization.
Board Members must be committed to the HORT’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
Desired skills and attributes for potential Board Members include a passion for building Charleston’s horticultural community and experience in one or more of the following key areas:
horticultural professionals
nonprofit leadership
marketing
technological or communications expertise
financial management
fundraising
Preference will be given to active members and business partners, including former Board Members.

More about HORT Board of Directors Nomination:
We equip garden enthusiasts and horticultural professionals across the South Carolina Lowcountry to cultivate community, resiliency, and beauty through gardening.
Board members will serve for a term of three years, commencing with the new fiscal year on July 1, 2026.
Board members must make a financial gift to CHS of not less than $500 per fiscal year.
Board members must regularly prepare for, attend, and participate in at least 80% of Board meetings.
Board members must agree to and sign the Board Member Expectations Policy and Pledge as a condition of their appointment to the Board.

All nominations will be reviewed by the Board, and applicants will be contacted for an interview.
The nomination form must be completed and returned by May 1, 2026, to be considered.
