About the event
The Charleston Horticultural Society invites you to join fellow Lowcountry leaders for an invitation-only Mayors Resiliency Roundtable, hosted by Mayor Lyon and the Town of James Island.
This regional conversation will bring together mayors, council members, municipal staff, and community partners to share successful approaches to creating more resilient, living landscapes across the Lowcountry.
Landscape architect Preston Montague, keynote speaker for The HORT's 2026 Beneath the Oaks Symposium, will join the conversation to explore successful commercial and municipal projects that prioritize ecological function and habitat development. He will share examples of how communities are rethinking ordinances, building public-private partnerships, and using collaborative projects to create healthier, more resilient urban landscapes.
The morning will culminate in a roundtable discussion where invited mayors can highlight current initiatives, share lessons learned, and identify opportunities for greater regional collaboration.
