About the event

Lunch & Learn: Black Cypress Preserve
Sunday, October 4th
10::30am- 2:30pm
Back by popular demand! Join renowned conservationist Dana Beach for a special HORT Lunch & Learn at the Black River Cypress Preserve, where we’ll spend the day exploring the native plants, ecosystems, and conservation efforts that make this landscape so extraordinary.
Dana will guide us through the preserve and its diverse native plant communities, including ancient cypress-tupelo swamp forest, longleaf pine savannah, and bottomland hardwood swamp. Along the way, learn about the restoration of the upland pine savannah, the return of fire-dependent grassland species, and the ongoing work to protect and restore these important native ecosystems.
