About the event
FALL TOUR: Autumn in the ACE Basin
Sunday, November 9th
Join us for our Fall Tour: Autumn in the ACE Basin, a rare opportunity to explore three private plantations: Brewton, Cockfield, and Rose Hill. These properties, seldom open to the public, offer a glimpse into the rich history of Lowcountry rice culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and the beauty of gardens shaped by centuries of stewardship.
The ACE Basin, named for the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto rivers, is one of the most ecologically significant places on the East Coast. Stretching across vast marshes, forests, tidal rivers, and former rice fields, it represents one of the largest intact estuaries in the nation. Once a hub of rice production, today it is celebrated as a triumph of conservation and a sanctuary for wildlife, history, and heritage.
At Cockfield Plantation, you’ll step into both history and horticulture. Cockfield was one of the last plantations…
