About the event
Take a walk through history, ecology, and community action with Dr. Blake Scott of The M.A.R.S.H. Project. This engaging field trip begins at Hampton Park and winds through vibrant Wagner Terrace, where stories of the past and visions for a sustainable future come together.
Along the way, you’ll learn how local history, native plant gardening, and ecological restoration are being woven into a grassroots movement to rewild the urban landscape. Discover how residents are reintroducing biodiversity, removing invasive species, and turning everyday green spaces into thriving habitats.
The M.A.R.S.H. Project will also share their bold vision for an urban ecological corridor—a continuous, living network of native plants and restored marshland that connects people, place, and nature. You’ll hear about their ongoing collaboration with the City of Charleston and how community members of all ages are getting involved in restoring these vital ecosystems.
What began as a simple cleanup among friends…
