The Charleston Horticultural Society (CHS), founded in 2000, is a non-profit organization with membership open to all. The Society offers a wide array of horticultural information and involvement to its more than 1,300 individual and business members through lectures, educational workshops, garden tours, special events, and publications.
CHS has two specialized committees: Charleston Trees, dedicated to ensuring that green spaces in the City of Charleston are nurtured and expanded, and the Heritage Rose Society, which maintains the city's historic Heritage Rose Trail and provides information about the Noisette rose -- with origins in Charleston, the first class of rose to be developed in America.
